Duo Desktop What is Duo Desktop? Duo Desktop is a small helper app to be installed on Windows computers that will soon be required for Duo to be used on Windows computers. The next time you authenticate to a RISD service that requires Duo 2 Factor authentication, you will be prompted to install Duo Desktop. See the instructions below. How to Install Duo Desktop Authenticate to a RISD service that requires Duo 2 Factor authentication. Duo will check to see id Duo Desktop is installed. You may receive a prompt that states "Duo Desktop need permission to access your local network". Click Skip for now. If using a Chrome browser, you will be prompted to "Allow local network access".>> IMPORTANT: Chrome users must follow the steps: Click the site information icon left of the web address in your browser. Select Site Settings Select Privacy and Security. Scroll down to the bottom of the Privacy and Security settings to find Local network access. Click the Ask(default) drop down menu to see other options. Select the Allow option. After the settings are saved you will need to click Reload to refresh the browser window. You will be prompted to Install Duo Desktop. Click Download Duo Desktop. You will be prompted to allow the app to install and to make changes to your device. After Duo Desktop has successfully installed, Duo will display the "Checking the security of your device" message. If your device is up-to-date, you will continue through the Duo authentication process.If your device is out-of-date you will receive a warning message.
