Steps to Take if Your RISD Account is Compromised and How to Secure Your Account
When you're concerned about your Google account security or you believe your RISD email account has been compromised, you may follow one or more of the steps below:
- If you received a Duo prompt that was not in your intention, please hit Deny and mark this authentication as fraudulent.
- Reach out to the Service Desk (401-454-6106) to report your fraudulent authentication.
- Change your RISD password on our Password Change Page
- Visit your account's Sign In & Security page and run through a Security Checkup to make sure no unwanted apps or suspicious logins have been detected
- Check your account settings for filters, signature, display name and vacation auto-replies that may have been added or modified.
- If you used the same password anywhere else, change it there, and implement 2FA on critical accounts such as banking, email, and social media.
IT Services recommends keeping banking and other financial institution credentials completely separate as an added layer of security.
