What is Unified Messaging (UM)?Unified Messaging (UM) is the integration of electronic messaging and communications and more specifically, the integration of voicemail and email. With UM activated, once a voice message is left, the system sends a copy of that voicemessage to your email inbox. You no longer have to dial into voicemail or rely on your desk phone’s message light. The email notification will contain the caller’s identification and telephone number (internal/external) along with a WAV file attachment of the voice message. Like other email attachments, the voicemail can be saved and/or forwarded. You may play back the voicemail with media players resident on most computers, smartphones and mobile devices.
Benefits
- Immediately receive voice messages via email
- Playback/listen to voicemail right from email
- Caller ID (internal/external telephone numbers) included in email notification (not available via traditional voicemail)
- Backup copy (permanent storage) of your voicemail
- Forward voice messages to one or more recipients via email
