What is a Duo hardware token for two-factor authentication?
Duo tokens, also known as security or hardware tokens, are small hardware devices that can be used as an alternative to using your phone, tablet or the Duo Mobile app when going through two-factor authentication (2FA). These portable devices will generate a passcode that you can enter when you need to complete the two-factor authentication process to access a protected RISD site or service.
The tokens are a one time purchase (no battery replacement option) and have a battery life of approximately 2 years before requiring replacement.
How do I purchase a Duo hardware token?
Duo tokens are available to
purchase at the RISD store as an individual or through department chargeback. The RISD store has shipping options available for remote employees.
How do I enroll a Duo hardware token?
To enroll your Duo hardware token, contact the IT Service Desk at (401) 454-6106 with your RISD username and Duo hardware serial number.
